    Coming Out Parties

Coming out can mean different things to different people.  Whether telling only those closest to you or making a public announcement, declaring your sexual preference is definitely a personal choice.  A coming out party is a great way to acknowledge and celebrate your sexual identity with family, friends and community.  The first rule of a coming out party is that there are no rules, and it should be a unique and personal party that is tailored especially to you!  A welcoming ceremony during your coming out party is a great way for the GLBTIQ community to welcome and support you to community and family.  Or keep it simple and head out on the town with friends to explore some of the local gay bars.  Whatever you do, coming out parties should reflect your pride in who you are.

    Housewarming

Whether you’ve made the move to a new home or renovated the old, a housewarming celebrates new beginnings with friends and family.  A housewarming is a great way to showcase your new home to family and friends, or introduce yourself to new neighbours.  A housewarming can take place at any time of the day- from an afternoon barbeque to evening cocktails.  After all the busyness associated with moving, the most important element of a housewarming is simplicity.  Overall, a housewarming tends to be an informal occasion.

    Retirement Celebration

Retirement is an opportunity to spoil yourself and take that long lazy cruise in the South Pacific, become a writer or potter in your garden.  Most importantly it’s a time to celebrate with family and friends.  Whatever’s right for you, it should be a celebration as its time to enjoy- makes the most of it!

    ‘Divorce’ Parties

So its over and its time to reclaim your identity.  Celebrate your new found freedom in style with a ‘Happy Divorce Day’ party.  While divorce parties acknowledge the end of a relationship, they also symbolise the beginning of new possibilities.  Surround yourself with friends and a good bottle of wine or two, spoil yourself with a weekend spa retreat, or cleanse your house of those unfriendly reminders.   This celebration is all about you and where to from here.

    Funeral/Memorials

Funerals and memorials are the ultimate celebration of life.  They are often highly emotional and sad occasions as your loved ones are faced with grief and loss.  At the same time, it is a celebration of your life and should reflect who you are and have been throughout your life.  For the gay community it is wise to plan ahead and ensure that your loved ones are clear that your wishes in death should be respected and honoured.

    Just Because Parties

Maybe you have something to celebrate or maybe you don’t.  A celebration can be just because- you’ve had a good day, are feeling fabulous, or just want to have a gathering with family and friends.  So think and be creative!  Maybe a themed party like ‘Christmas in July’ or an ‘Academy Award Spectacular’.  A Just Because party can take any form you wish so let your imagination run wild.
